Festive plugging
Geeeet... dressed, ye merry gentlemen, let nothing you dismay!
For it is very close to nearly almost Christmas Day!
Specifically the day before the day before that day...
It is Chr-i-i-i-istmas Eve Eve, Christmas Eve Eve,
It is Chri-hi-hi-hi-hi-hi-stmas Eve Eve!
There. Now you know one of the other verses.
Anyway, Merry Christmas, if you fancy it; and merry something else if you'd rather; and sympathy and solidarity if it's not a merry anything.
Merry or not... once it's all over I'll be gearing for up for series, if you can believe it, eight of John Finnemore's Souvenir Programme. And that means more secret try-outs! Which are sort of the most fun part. Sadly, our usual library can't fit us in this time; but happily the excellent Cockpit Theatre near Baker Street can. Plus, they have an actual box office, which means no booking fees, and that tickets to all five dates in January, February and March can be bought from this one handy page, or indeed by calling 0207 258 2925. So, do that, if you like.
Meanwhile, the things I'm popping up in over Christmas are three-fold, and they are all on Radio 4 because, well, that's where I live. Firstly, the BBC are repeating Series 7 of Souvenir Programme at 6:30s on Tuesdays, and keeping them here for a bit afterwards.
Secondly, the second episode of Simon Kane's marvellous time-travel comedy Time Spanner has at last arrived, a mere two years after the first. It's available here, and is utterly great. I play a Russian space dog. I wasn't allowed to do the accent, but I was allowed to pant.
Thirdly, I was very lucky to be asked by the mighty Neil Gaiman to be one of his readers for his Christmas Day edition of With Great Pleasure, the show where people select bits of writing they like. His choices, and introductions to them, were fantastic - plus, I got to tick Peter Capaldi off for getting tangled up with his sword. It'll be on Christmas Day at 7am and again at 10pm, and then here.
That's it, I think. Have, as I say, as merry a Christmas as you choose; and see you in the new year!
Love,
The Airport.
