Secret Heads Up - John Finnemore's Souvenir Cabin
Hello!
You're getting this because at some point you signed up to receive news of when I'm doing live shows. In fact, possibly you signed up back in April, when I put a notice up on my blog saying I would be announcing something new 'in a few weeks'. Well... here we are, 'a few weeks' later. What? Sixteen can be a few. If you asked for a few peas, and I gave you sixteen, you'd think that was fair enough, wouldn't you? Well, then.
Anyway, leaving peas aside for the moment... I'm very excited to be able to reveal at last here- before anywhere else- that I will be doing a two week run of a new live stage show in London, from the 30th September to the 11th October (except 5th October). It's at the Shaw Theatre, and it's called, for reasons which may occur to you, 'John Finnemore's Souvenir Cabin'. Unlike previous shows I've done recently, it's not a try-out or preview, but a proper show in its own right, with, you know, costumes, and an interval, and all that stuff. I'm going to learn it and everything. (I know! Such dedication...) Among other things, it will include favourite sketches from Souvenir Programme; brand new sketches; a fully dramatised 'Since You Ask Me…' story; hopefully a song or two... and a specially written new monologue by Mr Arthur Shappey, making his first live stage appearance. He's terribly excited. Well, obviously he always is, but I mean specifically about this.
The show will also feature one other performer, but as I cannot possibly choose between them, I'm delighted to say the whole cast of Souvenir Programme, plus Kevin Baker from John and Kevin's Sunday Papers, have agreed to do two or three nights each. Here's who will be on when:
30th September, 1st and 2nd October: Simon.
3rd October: Margaret.
4th October: Kevin.
6th October: Margaret.
7th and 8th October: Lawry.
9th and 10th October: Carrie.
11th October: Kevin.
There will be a slightly different selection of sketches for each performer, and on the two Sundays Kevin and I will for the first time attempt to do that day's 'Sunday Papers' live on stage. Wish us luck...
I've never done a show on this scale before, so I don't really know how fast tickets will go... but just in case they go quickly, I wanted to make sure that people who read my blog, and signed up for this newsletter, get a chance to get them first. So, this email is by way of secret advance notice, ahead of the general public announcement next Monday, that tickets are available now….and you can get them here.
The, in my opinion rather lovely, poster for the show is up here.
And if you have any questions, the best place to ask them is on the Facebook page for the show, which is here , and where I, or one of the show's other producers, will try to answer them.
That's it, I think. Have a lovely weekend!
John
